Examination Update - 27 November 2009

27 November, 2009

The bulk of NCEA and Scholarship exams have now been completed with only four more days left of the exam period.

During the past 12 days, NCEA and NZ Scholarship exams have been run in 239 standards including 19 Scholarship subjects in 24 separate sessions.

Completed exam papers are already being delivered to markers, including the largest exam this week, level 1 Science with 36, 981 students entered.

So far, there have been 135,331 students who have sat one or more exams during the 12 days of exams, with 1,652,829 answer booklets currently being processed.

A small number of exam paper issues have been identified in the past week:

  • Home Economics (90241): a small number of schools have reported the resource sheet missing. Markers have been notified and no students will be disadvantaged.
  • Physics (90182): a problem has been identified with Q3, where there are inconsistencies in the use of measurement units across the question. Markers will assess the students' working only, and not the measurement unit.
Overall 141,992 students are expected to attend the 2009 NCEA and Scholarship exams during the whole 16-day exam period.
